Hongkong’s Fireworks on Labor Day

Last night, on the occasion of Labor Day, we three had an unexpected opportunity to see fireworks at Victoria Harbor in Tsin Shatsui.

We arrived at the place 45 minutes before the show, scheduled at 8 PM. All the roads leading to the harbor were blocked for people to walk to the scene, managed by many policemen…

So many people gathered at the pier as we arrived. Everyone was so eager to wait for the event, particularly the foreigners.

Loud speakers repeatedly announced the countdown of the light show in Cantonese, Mandarine and English as well.

Everybody focused out to the sea, particularly the fireworks launching boat. And finally the light festival started exactly at 8 PM.

Cellphones and cameras tried to capture the best angles of colorful firework scenes for 10 minutes.

After the symphony of light, people start moving out of the harbor peacefully and orderly…

The expectation of disorder and stampede didn’t exist and we peacefully leave the show.

It was an interesting experience for me on the Labor Day since it is a public holiday in Hongkong.

Tomorrow I leave this territory after a six-day visit to the land of the Chinese outside of China mainland…

Hongkong‘s peculiar food!

Vietnamese and Hongkonger’s foods are somewhat similar.

However, as soon as we arrived here, special culinary is found in the process of local cooking dishes, namely duck.

Peking Duck is famous dish since the Imperial Era in China. The seasoned meat is characterized by its crispy skin and meat, often eaten with spring onion, cucumber and rolled by homemade pancakes…

We’ve tried Peking Duck in a small, dim but well decorated restaurant called Monogamous Chinese. The food was so delicious!

There are also Peking Duck “Hongkong Style” called “Pizza Duck”, which is different from what we often taste in the rest of the world. It’s quite an experience to taste Pizza and Duck in Hongkong!
